People of Eagle
Meet Lisa Beckstead
I have decided to start a new section in the Eagle Newsletter each week. It will be featuring a person in our community. I feel like sometimes we can get so stuck in our own world that we don't get to know the people that we see every day. You know how I feel about volunteers and small business owners so I am sure I will be featuring several of those but there are no "special" qualifications to be featured. I want us all to get to know our neighbors. With that said I can't think of anyone better to start with then my my sister-in-law, Lisa Beckstead. As a first responder she is willing to volunteer a lot of her time and put her life on the line often for complete strangers in their time of need.
Lisa moved here years ago because she was dating her husband, Shane, after she met him online. She like anything & everything outdoors, horseback riding, photography, softball, hanging with the family and friends. She is from Harlan Iowa a town of around population of 6,000. She moved there when I was 13 prior to that they lived in Helena, Montana. Which is what sparked her love for nature and animals. During her time in Montana she spent a lot of time with members of the Blackfeet Native tribe. She spent time learning their way of life and beliefs. She has followed that into her adult life incorporating what she continues to learn about the world we live in and what resides on it. She have been taking pictures since she was a teen. Started Luxury Images Photography 2 years ago. Check out her Facebook page CLICK HERE. When I talked with Lisa she said she is happily married to her best friend and has a blended family with 7 kids and 1 grandson. She has worked in the Medical field for 21 years.
Lisa was approached by a member of the department when she moved here about joining and had always wanted to do that. She went to the monthly meeting and submitted her application. She has been on the Eagle Fire & Rescue Dept for 5 years. She serves as the Rescue Captain for Eagle Fire and Resure. What that means basically is that under the direction of the Medical Director and with the assistance of the Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief she trains medical personnel and manage the rescue side of the department.
Her daughter, Michelle, is also a cadet with Eagle Fire and Rescue. Cadets are teenagers from 16-19 that live in our district that have an interest in the Medical & Fire fields. They train & work along Firefighters and Rescue Personnel learning hands on experience in things such as first aid, basic firefighting skills, tools & equipment maintenance, community relations and fire and rescue protection. Along with what it takes to volunteer for the betterment of the community. For safety reasons they have
strict rules and regulations on what is expected of them. We are always looking for good people in our community willing to help others in their time of need. Adult and cadet alike. If you are interested in learning more message them on the Facebook page CLICK HERE.
*I need your help...If you know of someone in our amazing community that should be featured please email me at editor@eaglenebraska.com so I can reach out to them. TIA!
