Grandparents and Special Friends Day was again a big event this year!  I have been getting a lot of emails with pictures and some great comments about experiences had that day.  Please enjoy the following...
Grandparents Day…what a wonderful experience for all Grandparents.
This is a time to watch your Grandchildren in their school environment, see them interact with friends and teachers as well as the special guests in the classroom. Just a fun way to spend time with your Grandchild at school. For those of us who look forward to spending as much time as possible with our Grandchildren this is a fantastic day. The staff at Eagle Elementary makes this a special day for everyone. We thank them as well as the PTE
volunteers who also work hard to make this an event to remember. The high school students who serve as special guests for this day also deserve a round of applause for their participation in this event. This is such a heart warming opportunity to see your special student(s) shine at school.
I love to hear the comments and conversations when you are working with your student onprojects, at lunch or at recess. It gives the student and tells them they are stars for the day.  I hope that it sends a message to the students how important we the Grandparents believe that School is to them in their lives.  As far as Grandparents go…what a great opportunity to show off your Grandchild (ren) and what Grandparent wants to miss an opportunity to do that?  This is a great way to bridge the generation gap!

We can’t wait for next year’s Grandparents Day!

"Another fun visit to Eagle Elementary School to visit my granddaughter, Claire Westerholt, in Mrs. Reger's first grade class.  As usual the children are always excited and highly anticipating  the grandparents  walking through their door first thing in the morning. Claire introduced her grandfather by his name. But when it came time to introduce me, she simply said this is Grammie. When the teacher asked my name, she forgot.  That's just fine with me as I am Grammie to my 3 wonderful grandchildren.    We had an art project, "Family Tree" and of course she had to include her two cats and one dog.  Since the weather didn't cooperate as it has in the past years for recess, we had fun putting puzzles together.  And of course, ended up having a fun lunch of Claire's favorite "nutritional foods", including Funyuns, pudding and Capri Sun,  Already looking forward to the 2nd grade."
