The weather outside is frightful..but the fire is so delightful...
A fire would have helped Tuesday as Eagle was without power for several hours. It came on just about the time my house was starting to be a little too cool for my taste! The school district was quick to send out a text (see the school district website to find out about this option) and email letting everyone know that Eagle Elementary was without power but the children were safe and warm.
As this is our first accumulating snow, please remember to clear around the neighborhood mailboxes when you are doing your sidewalks. This sometimes is overlooked but necessary.
Santa stopped at the Fire Barn in Eagle last Saturday!
Eaglevision did a great job of preparing for Santa's visit. There was a decorated tree with presents all wrapped. There were cookies and hot apple cider. There were also goodie bags for the boys and girls who came to make sure they were on the nice list or plead their case if they were not! We had quit a few little ones not real happy about meeting the big guy for the first time. Santa is pretty intimidating! But a good time was had by all. Thank you Eaglevision for all the time and effort and planning that went into this community event. It really is much appreciated! Also, a BIG thanks to Santa for taking time out of this busy season to come and visit the boys and girls in Eagle!
This Friday, December 19th will be the last day school
will be in session this year!
Don't get too excited kids, I mean for 2008!
CHRISTMAS AT ARLINGTON CEMETERY
Arlington National Cemetery
Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell...
Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.
