The American Heart Association surprised Mr. Erickson with an award for 30 years of support for Jump Rope For Heart and its sister program, Hoops For Heart.
Few teachers nationwide have been with the youth program consistently since its inception in the fall of 1978. Over the past 30 years, Erickson has helped raise tens of thousands in donations to fight heart disease and stroke, while showing students that volunteering can be fun, healthy, and beneficial to the community. Mr. Erickson has a rich history with the Jump Rope For Heart, including coaching a Jump Rope For Heart Demo Team that performed nationwide.
Mr. Erickson has led nearly $100,000.00 of fundraising for the American Heart Association through the youth programs Jump Rope For Heart/Hoops for Heart since 1978.
Since 1978, Jump Rope For Heart has raised over $703 million for the fight against heart disease and stroke.
More than 56,000 Nebraska students participated in either Jump Rope For Heart or its middle school counterpart Hoops For Heart in 2007-08 and raised nearly $1 million.
Way to go Mr. Erickson!
Congratulations!
