Eagle Elementary gets a new Playground!

There were close to 30 volunteers this last Saturday at the playground at Eagle Elementary.  We started at 7:00am and didn't stop till well after 9:00pm.  It started out muggy but since the clouds stayed with us, the wind and the sprinkles here and there made a for a beautiful morning.  The afternoon however got very hot and sunny.

A big Thank You to Sheila Odom for a delicious breakfast!

Another big Thank You to Tammy Gress, Roxanne Dietze and all the other teachers who helped out with lunch for the volunteers.

I also wanted to Thank all the volunteers that worked that set aside their whole day to make this so successful.  Dottie Huesman, Principal at Eagle Elementary was there with her son and husband.  Susie Lehr was also there with her husband lending a hand.  I was really excited to see so much teacher involvement.  In addition to parents, teachers, family and friends we had LInda Bevans and  Alan Retzlaff from District 145 School Board working hard right beside us.  Robin Hoffman from School District 145 Foundation for Education lent a hand (or two!).  We also had the pleasure of meeting our new Superintendant.

All in all it was a very productive day.  I can't wait till August 4th.  This is the Back To School Bash/Ribbon Cutting  for the new playground.  I think the kids will all be very excited!

Cass County Fair is just around the corner!

The Cass County Fair is held in Weeping Water, August 4 - 8, 2009.  The Fair is  very easy to find!  It's located between U.S. Highway 75 and Nebraska Highway 50 on Nebraska Highway 1.

From Omaha: go South on hwy 50, turn East (left) on Hwy 1 follow the sign to       Cass County Fair grounds.

From Lincoln: go East on hwy 34, turn North (left) on hwy 50, turn East (right) on hwy1 and follow the sign to Cass County Fair grounds.

Best of all, it's absolutely FREE!  There are no admission fees.

You have probably seen the side box asking for volunteers for Eagle Fun Days (which is just around the corner!) on this website.  To go along with that, Eagle Vision is in need of volunteers to help work at the firework tent located in front of the Corner Cafe.  This is a Great fundraising opportunity but needs a lot of volunteers to make it work.  All funds go to Eagle Vision to help support our FABULOUS Fun Day!  Please, call Rhonda Halvorsen to get signed up (or sign up online )!  Rhonda Halvorsen (cell) 430-1193 or Cafe 781-2333.
