Eagle Days 2009!
The volunteers have been working hard to put this together for several months. You could see the progress by Friday morning. Friday evening was the Peoples Choice BBQ. It was suppost to run from 7:30 - 9:30 but after about 30 minutes most of the venders were sold out! The people that were there went through over 400 lbs of meat in less than 30 minutes! What a great showing of the community and very much unexpected.
The crown was also unexpected at the breakfast put on by the Volunteer Fire Department. I am told that was the largest crown the department had ever served. Wow, what a problem to have!
Needless to say, each year they learn more and more. They try and keep what's working and change what's not. It's not an easy task.
I took so many pictures Friday night and Saturday morning my batteries died as I was standing waiting for the parade! I felt so lost! Kim and Corey Root did let me borrow their camera for the afternoon so that I could keep taking some pictures. Thank you!
Hope you enjoy!
Ealge Food Pantry in Need of Help
The Eagle Food Pantry needs our help. There is currently a large increase in the number of families in our community that are in need of help from the Food Pantry on a weekly basis.
The Food Pantry shelves are in need of the following items:
· Hygiene Products (deodorants, feminine products, etc.)
· Diapers
· First Aid Items
· Dish Soap
· Laundry Detergent
· Cleaning Supplies
Families can not purchase these items with food stamps; when these items are donated, they run out fast. Imagine not having diapers for your baby, a band-aid for your toddler, or feminine products for yourself.Eagle Moms meet weekly for a day out!
The group started small and grew and grew. Each week some make it out and others don't so we always have a variety of moms and kids. Last week we used our KFOR passes the PTE sold during the school year and visited LaserTag and Sunvalley Bowling. The kids were actually as exhausted as the moms were by the time the day was done. But EVERYONE had a great time!
