Vandalism in Eagle
van⋅dal⋅ism [van-dl-iz-uh
m] deliberately mischievous or malicious destruction or damage of property: vandalism of public buildings.
When did vandalism begin? I couldn't find an answer to this yet. I imagine that it has been around since people and property. We certainly have enough of it right in here in our town.
I was really excited when I heard they were putting bathrooms in the park. After the excitement wore off I began to worry about people vandalizing them. It sure didn't take long. The bathrooms weren't even done when a group of kids threw pieces of concrete on the roof tearing up the shingles and tearing off the male/female signs from the restroom doors.
Now that the bathrooms are finished the maintenance crew have had to deal with that and more. In case you were not aware, our maintenance crew has had to deal with fires being started in the mens room twice, defecation in the mens room, entire rolls of toilet paper being flushed and then clogging the toilets, the list goes on and the vandalism doesn't stop.
Call the county sherrif as soon as you see or hear anything you don't think is right. Do you know where or what your children are doing most of the time, especially at night? The village will be in the process of putting up camera's and will know more after this is done. They will still need the residents to keep their eyes and ears open. Don't be afraid to get involved! They may not be your kids involved but it is sure your tax dollars being used to fix their inconsiderate and thoughtless pranks.
Nothing will change if people don't get involved. It's going to take more than a couple of people a couple of nights to get a handle on this.
The village is offering a reward for any information that leads to an arrest or prosecution regarding the vandalism to the restrooms in the park. Please contact the Village Office or Cass County Sherriffs office with any information you may have.
