Co-Ed Adult Softball League in Eagle has begun!

I put together my team as a way to hang out with some great friends and get some activity in at the same time.  I just thought it sounded like a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  The One Eyed Dog is our sponsor.  I have to say I can't wait to see our shirts!

There are six teams altogether.  We all played last Sunday.  It's a good thing my team had a blast, because we lost 26 - 2.  Yes, that's right.  No typo.  26 - 2.

But we had fun!  I found muscles I didn't know existed!

If you would like to work out your sides (laughing), come and watch some games!  The games are played at the Memorial Field in Eagle.  They start at 12:30 and there is a game every hour and 1/2.  Last game is played at 3:30.  My team plays at 3:30 this Sunday.  We are playing Julie Kreikemeier's team.  It should be pretty good!

Let's get 50,000 new books for NE.  Currently in 4th place.  It only takes a minute.
Folks,
The "What Book Got You Hooked?" campaign for 2009 has begun and runs through September 30th (see below).  This is another chance to help win 50,000 free, new books for Nebraska children.   Please start voting yourself and pass this along to all of your Nebraska friends and family members.  It's simple to do and costs nothing, but the benefits could be great.  We've finished 2nd and 3rd the last two years and have come up empty.  It's time Nebraska children won the books.  Thanks!
Mark Claussen
President, Read Aloud Nebraska

Voting is now open for the What Book Got You Hooked campaign!
You can vote once every 24 hours for the state you'd like to receive 50,000
books. The link is below. Spread the word!

Girl Scouts

The official Girl Scout kick off is in October so there is still time to plan out the first part of the year.  Heather has high hopes of being more active in outside activities and has some instructors from the American Red Cross for babysitting class, first aid, and CPR...

With the amount of inquiries she has had, Eagle has the potential to have a big troop.  Please help.  The future of the troop depends on us the parents and volunteers.

The Girl Scouts Eagle Troop is in need of at least one more person to help lead.  If you have an interest please contact Heather Meehan (402) 314-8257.
