Eagle Elementary PTE was awarded a $2000.00 grant from Walmart at 84th Adams!

The playground committee was awarded a $2000.00 from Walmart today to put towards phase II of the playground renovation.  They are looking at all their options and where to start.  Some of items on their list are: new soccer goals, renovating the soccer/baseball field, long term goals for the surrounding area around the new playground equipment.  They will be turning these things into the school board for review and approval and then moving forward as soon as possible!  Congratulations and Thank You for all the hard work!

Breakins in and around the Eagle area

As some of you have probably heard, we have had some breakins in and around our area.  One right here in Eagle was in daylight with neighbors home.  The Corner Cafe was the latest victim to this senseless act.  If you have any information please make sure you contact Cass County Sherrif Department.

Parking at Eagle Elementary

While the teachers at Eagle Elementary have graciously agreed to park in the Teacher Lot on the North/East side of the school, we have parents who are still parking in the curve instead of finding a parking space.  Because it's so cold and we have so many parents picking kids up this is a huge problem as parents were actually blocking parking spaces to wait for their turn in the curve.  This caused the cars to back up past 1st street where cars were 6 to 7 spots from the stop sign on Monday and again on Tuesday.  The other problem here is that once the cars are stopped and backed up at the stop sign it's hard to get traction to get going.  As a child was waiting to cross the street on Monday, a car caught traction and almost hit her.

I am sure that the safety of the children is far more important than being able to pull up to the curb instead of finding a parking space and waiting for your child or walking up to get them.

Also, as your pulling through the parking, PLEASE watch for kids crossing to cars.  I don't know how many times I see cars just keep driving as kids were standing on the curb waiting to cross.

Last but of course not least, when dropping children off in the morning if you are not just pulling up to drop off PLEASE find a parking place.  When you pull up to the curb and leave your car there it forces all the other cars to try and back up and go around you  which causes even more problems.  Please just use common sense, be safe and be courteous to those around you

I welcome any and all comments to this issue and any others!  Please email me at editor@eaglenebraska.com.

School District 145 Bus Routes temporary change

Because of tight corners due to snow and parked cars the school buses had to change their pick up spots to exclude everything except Eagle Elementary School and Lou's Grocery.  There are lots of families rural that have had to meet the buses because they simply couldn't make it down some roads.  As I was making sure that there weren't kids standing at the stops who may not have heard they needed to go the elementary school or Lou's I saw several other parents doing the same thing.  It reminds me of what a great community I live in!
