Eagle Fun Run a Success!!

We all had a great time at the second annual Eagle Fun Run.  There were over double the amount of runners from last year. We lucked out with beautiful weather and a great bunch of people.  We had three races that day.  The 10K began at 8:00am, the 5K began at 9:30am and the 1 Mile began at 11:00am.  The race times, web link and top three from each race will come next week with even more pictures.   Stay tuned.....

A NEW BUSINESS COMES TO EAGLE!

Jen and Joe Folmer are looking to open Jen's Place next Saturday, May 8th.  They have to work with state health officials and their time and found out today that they can't be there till this Saturday.

Jen's Place will be changing the venue back to a more family oriented business.  She is looking to serve BBQ,Smoked Pork and Beef, Ice Cream and other kid friendly dishes and affordable dishes.  The entire family is excited to have the opportunity to serve Eagle in a new way. 

Best said by Jen's son Nate Folmer, "My mom is the best cook ever!"

If all goes well we can all be eating some great BBQ next weekend!  If not, Jen has said she will keep me posted so I can help let everyone know!   Stay tuned!  She may try and open one night next week as a dry run!

This position entails reading the water meters, operation of the water & sewer billing program, filing and operating standard office equipment. Prefer applicant to have computer skills with Microsoft Office 07 and QuickBooks. Ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated and posses excellent communication skills. The Willa Cather Foundation, located in Red Cloud, Nebraska, invites applications for the position of Education Specialist.  The successful applicant will have excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills. Candidates are expected to have knowledge of American writers, especially Willa Cather.
 
The Education Specialist is responsible for developing and promoting creative academic programs and activities for the public in the areas of history, arts and humanities as they relate to the life, time and work of Willa Cather; preparing grant proposals for educational programs; marketing educational programs; and representing the Foundation publically in selected forums, conferences, book clubs, and other venues.
 
The Willa Cather Foundation was founded in 1955 to promote and assist in the development and preservation of the art, literary and historical collections relating to the life, time and work of Willa Cather, and later became associated with the Nebraska State Historical Society. The Foundation meets its mission by providing for Willa Cather a living memorial, encouraging and assisting scholarship in the field of the humanities, and perpetuating an interest throughout the world in her work. Eagle Troop 506

The end of year awards night for Troop 506 was April 25th.  Heather Meehan presented a year in girl scouting with a power point presentation.  We enjoyed a potluck meal with Tim Meehan carving the ham.  The girls received many badges.  Group pictures of Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts holding their awards.  The girls also received their cookie incentives.

 Auditions for Summer Musical "Guys and Dolls"

Manley, NE [April 28, 2010]-  The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces that it will be holding auditions for their summer musical, "Guys & Dolls" on May 9 and 10 at 7pm.  There are several parts available including featured parts and ensemble.  Men and women ages 16 and up are welcome.  Those planning to audition should bring a prepared piece of music.  An accompanist is provided.  Readings will consist of cuttings from the show's script.

Performance dates are July 16-18, 22-25, 29-31 and August 1.  There are two performances on July 18 and 25.  Director for the production is Kevin Colbert.  Musical Director is Betty Colbert.  Complete details can be found on the Lofte's website, http://www.lofte.com/.  Questions may be addressed to Kevin Colbert by calling the Lofte's Box Office at (402) 234-2553.
