School is Out!
The kids piled out of the school ready begin their summer. They had bags in hand and smiles on their faces as they looked for their parents and/or friends to take them home. A group of parents and students met at the park in Eagle to start the summer off right!
Some of the mom's around Eagle started getting together for lunch once a month. They started late in the year so this was only the second outing they had. They enjoyed themselves very much at Jenn's Place the friday before school was out. They are looking forward to summer but can't wait for their lunches again come next school year!
Talent Shows at Eagle Elementary!
67 acts auditioned for the talent shows at Eagle Elementary! There were three talent shows. Two mini talent shows and an all school talent show. All three talent shows were great! Mrs. Lindquist did a fabulous job of putting everything together!

It is the story of a loveable prize-fighter, Joe Pendleton whom is snatched into the afterlife before his time. In an effort to rectify the situation, his guardian angel returns Joe to earth in the body of an elderly millionaire. "Heaven Can Wait" has all of the ingredients of a lighthearted comedy while also asking important questions about life and true love.

Old Fashioned Father's Day in the Park
On Sunday, June 20th, the Plattsmouth Main Street Association is sponsoring an "Old Fashioned Father's Day in the Park" at Rhylander park in Plattsmouth. As you can see from the attached flyer, the featured event will be an old-time base ball game. As a result we are recruiting players for our local team, "The Cass County Railroad Ruffians" and we invite you to choose a member of your organization as your representative on the team.
This will be a game of light-hearted fun and friendly competition. The rules of 1860 are a much less strenuous game than modern baseball and 9 innings will last less than 2 hours. In fact, the pitcher throws underhand and is encouraged to throw the ball where the batter requests it to be thrown. Also, it is an "out" if the ball is caught without having touched the ground OR after one bounce. So, as you can see, this game will move along quite quickly. I have seen the Wichita team play. They play for fun and love to "razz" each other and the opposing team. They told me that they win about 50% of their games.
This will require no financial contribution on the part of your organization. Our only hope is that you will bring your families out to enjoy the day and share in the fun and relaxation of a simpler era.
Sincerely,

The one-mile, Capital City Buddy Walk, hosted by the Down Syndrome Association for Families.
The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to bring together a wide range of concerned individuals to reach out to friends, family and co-workers to promote awareness and inclusion for people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for education, research and advocacy programs. The walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to more than 280 nationwide (one in every state) with over 230,000 participants.
Many of you probably already know Natasha and James Dobbins. They have two beautiful children Lily and Jimmy "Buddy". Buddy was born with Down Syndrome as well as other complications. He had open heart surgery on August 3, 2009. He had complications from a nicked lymph node...which caused what they called a chylothorax with plural infusion. Which means they nicked the lymph node and that caused the lining of his right lung to fill with fluid and lipils, which collapsed his right lung. We have dealt with apnea monitors, oximeters, oxygen, prescription formula, feeding tube and all kinds of stuff. RIGHT NOW... he's fine. He is almost 9 months and 13 lbs. He is still on lasix, prilosec, and sildenafil. But that should be short lived. All thats left is to deal with the down syndrome. Which I can deal with. ;)
The Dobbins family is inviting everyone to join them in the "Buddy" walk on October 2nd at Antelope Park. They would love to see a big team from their town there to support them!
