Eagle United Methodist Church welcomed the McClellan Sisters.  Anyone who missed them surely missed a wonderful concert.  The two youngest attended Sunday School and were both delightful!  We are waiting with anticipation for next year when we hope they will return for another visit!

One of the many reasons I am so proud to call this town my home:

A Christmas Bonus
There are always people that make the Christmas season just a little better for everyone. Perry Gillaspie and Butch Schukei are employees of the Village of Eagle. When they received their Christmas bonus this year they knew exactly what they were going to do with it. Schukei mentioned that he had given his bonus to the Eagle Food Bank last year and he was doing the same again this year. Gillaspie thought that sounded like a great idea. Food Bank director, GeoAnn Reynoldson met them at Lou's Grocery and they signed their bonus checks over to Lou Stanard, owner of Lou's Grocery. Lou in return issued gift certificates to the Eagle Food Bank to be distributed to families who use the Food Pantry. The certificates can be used to purchase perishable items at Lou's. The Eagle Birthday Club also made a cash donation to the Pantry as well as many other anonymous donations. The students of District # 145 recently held a food drive to stock the shelves of the Eagle and Waverly pantries. "Without the help of generous people through out our community we would not be able to keep the doors of the Food Bank open." says GeoAnn Reynoldson.

Eagle Elementary held their 2nd annual Barnes and Noble fundraiser at Southpointe shopping center November 29th.  There was free gift wrapping and guest readers.  A percent of the sales from Eagle shoppers goes to the PTE!  I don't have any final numbers but there were lots of shoppers while we were there!  There were a lot of story tellers, here are just a few pictures of the event.

The 1st and 2nd graders performed at the Elementary School last Thursday.  Christmas at the OK Corral.  What a show!  Everyone had such a good time.  The kids were fantastic!  Mrs. Lindquist, our Music teacher did such a good job putting together a fully entertaining show.  Bubble Gum Bart: Jared Nielsen did such a good job of being a bad guy then a bad guy turned good!  Mickena Richards aka: Candy Cane Kid was wonderful!  They were all so good!  Pennywise, the general store clerk: Madelyn Retzlaff was very enteraining as was Mayor: Andrew Moylan, Mrs. Mayor: Averie Lambrecht, Scoop: Wesley Wiseman, Ironsides, the blacksmith: Sawyer Schroder, Betsy Bookworm: Sierra St. Clair, Quickwhiskers: Talon Flodman, Rosie Reindeer: Alexandra Linscott and OF COURSE:    Santa Claus: Clay Riley!  And boy what a good Santa he was!!  The children were all decked out in their western wear and acted their hearts out!

There was some confusion as to why the outside doors were not open earlier but I was told that we as parents have lost that privilege since there were some unruly children last year that caused some damage to the school prior to the program.  This is both disappointing and sad.  As you can imagine since the school sits up on a hill it can be a lot colder there than in the village.  The night of the program the wind was blowing something awful which made it that much worse.  The note sent home had said the doors would not open till 6:40pm.  Having spent 6 years prior attending programs and concerts I went early to get a good seat so that I could get good pictures.  The outside doors were always open and you would have to wait inside for the gym doors to open.  I guess I thought that's what was meant by the doors not opening till 6:40pm. I had no idea that they were not opening the outside doors this year.  Since the line to get in went almost to the parking lot I am guessing that a lot of other people didn't know either.

Speaking of vandalism.  I was told this week that we have some children causing quite a bit of vandalism in the park and especially at and around the pool. We as a community need to keep an eye and ear out and speak up when we see something wrong.  Being a small community it shouldn't be hard to find out who these children are and let their parents know what is going on.  I know as a parent of three children I want to know if they are not being respectful in anyway.  I want them take pride in their town but also to feel safe.  If you see or hear something that is not right call the police.  Make a report.  Take pictures or write down names and times of what you saw.  Be involved.  Do something.

The children in our area are all waiting for Santa to stop by Eagle!  They are hoping they made the good list and are ready with their letters and lists of what they would like Santa to bring to them this year!  I myself am hoping for healthy children!  If it's not one, it's another or all three!!  Tis' the Season I guess.
